"Female Solo Traveler "
As a solo female traveler, spending a month at the Tianmeng Shaolin Kung Fu Academy exceeded all my expectations. I had read previous reviews and arrived with an open mind, prepared with extra snacks and toiletries based on others’ advice. However, I quickly realized I didn’t need to worry—the food was both delicious and nutritious, and the school was clean, including the Western-style bathrooms, which were a great comfort. Most importantly, I always felt completely safe. The supportive environment and welcoming community made it an ideal place for women traveling alone.
I initially came with the goal of learning Tai Chi, as I don’t consider myself physically strong. However, the masters believed in me—even when I doubted myself—and encouraged me to join the Kung Fu training with the other students. To my surprise, I loved it! The experience boosted my confidence and ignited a desire to become more physically active. Another highlight was the location—the school is nestled near the mountains, surrounded by nature and far from the distractions of the city. Waking up to fresh air, training in such a peaceful setting, and being close to nature made the experience even more special.
If I have any regrets, it’s that I didn’t have more time to deepen my Tai Chi practice. A month is a short time to grasp an art that has been practiced for centuries. However, this experience planted a seed that I know will continue to grow. For any woman looking for an empowering, affordable, and safe place to train, I highly recommend this school. It’s not just about martial arts—it’s about discovering what you’re capable of.
